TRIMETHOPRIM – SULPHADIAZINE 50% VETHELLAS

COMPOSITION: 83.3g Trimethoprim and 416.7g Sulphadiazine per kg of product.

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM: Medicated premix.

PROPERTIES:
 
The trimethoprim/sulphadiazine 1 to 5 combination has been used widely as a broad spectrum antibacterial agent in a variety of species including fish. The development of this product has resulted from the fact that potentiated sulphonamides produce a sequential blockade in microbial enzyme systems preventing bacterial DNA synthesis. This double blockade is very desirable since it is known to produce a powerful bactericidal effect, and may be used against numerous fish infections.

 INDICATIONS:
Fish*:
Recommended for the bacterial septicemias of farmed fish. For the treatment and control of furunculosis caused by Aeromonas salmonicida in freshwater and sea water salmon, and Vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum in seawater fish. It has also been used successfully in the treatment of Columnaris disease and Enteric Red-Mouth disease (ERM) of salmon caused by Flexibacter Columnaris and Yersinia Ruckeri respectively.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
It should not be administered directly. It should not be used in fish with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS:
Undesirable effects have not been observed. In case of any serious undesirable effect, inform immediately your veterinarian.

DOSAGE:
Fish*: For administration in fish feed at the rate of 60 mg of product per kg of fish body weight daily.

STORAGE-SHELF LIFE:
Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light at a temperature less than 25ο C. After incorporation into final feed the product remains stable for 3 months from the day of manufacture. When mixing takes place by hand at the farm before dosing, the product should be consumed immediately and not stored.
