COMPOSITION: Doxycycline hyclate 500 mg/g (equivalent to 433 mg/g Doxycycline).
PHARMACEUTICAL FORM: Water soluble powder for oral administration.
PROPERTIES:
CLAVAVET® is a broad spectrum antibiotic. It acts against bacteria sensitive to Doxycycline, and is indicated for the control of infections caused by such bacteria. Their mechanism of action is based on its ability to inhibit the ribosomal 30S subunit of sensitive bacteria, resulting in inhibition of protein synthesis.
INDICATIONS:
CLAVAVET® acts against bacteria sensitive to Doxycycline:
Bovine*: (before the development of the large abdomen): For the treatment of bronchopneumonia and pleuropneumonia caused by Pasteurella spp., Streptococcus spp., Trueperella pyogenes, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma spp.
Swine*: For the treatment of atrophic rhinitis caused by Pasteurella multocida and Bordetella bronchiseptica, bronchopneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida, Streptococcus suis and Mycoplasma hyorhinis, and pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.
Poultry (broilers) *: For the treatment of infections of the respiratory system and enteritis.
CONTRA INDICATIONS:
It should not be administered in animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines (where doxycycline belongs to) as well as in animals with serious kidney and liver deficiency. It should not be administered to laying hens, whose eggs are destined for human consumption. It should not be administered to cattle producing milk for human consumption.
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS:
Undesirable effects have not been observed. In case of any serious undesirable effect, inform immediately your veterinarian.
DOSAGE:
Bovine (before the development of the large abdomen): 10mg doxycycline hyclate / Kg BW / day, which corresponds to 20 mg of the product/ kg BW, for 3-5 days, twice a day.
Swine: It is generally administered at a dose of 10mg doxycycline hyclate /Kg BW / day, after dissolution in drinking water, which corresponds to 20 mg of the product / kg BW, for 3-5 days.
Poultry (broilers): 25mg doxycycline hyclate /Kg BW / day after dissolution in drinking water, which corresponds to 50 mg of the product / kg BW, for 3-5 days.
STORAGE-SHELF LIFE:
The original package should be stored well sealed in dry, dark place, at a temperature below 25° C. Its expiration date is 24 months from the production date, when it is stored under the proposed storage conditions. Its shelf life after dissolution in water is 24 hours (15οC-25Cο). It should not be used after its expiration date has lapsed. After dissolution of the product in milk, the resulting solution must be used immediately.
PACKAGING:
The medicine is packaged in aluminum sachets with inner polyethylene liner of 100gr, 500gr and 1000gr.
