COMPOSITION : Phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium (penicillin V potassium)10% w/w on inactive carrier.

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM: Medicated premix.

PROPERTIES:
Phenoxymethylpenicillin is a penicillin antibiotic, and its antibacterial action is through inhibition of the bacterial cell wall. It acts mainly against Gram negative bacteria, and it is the only penicillin that can be administered orally.

INDICATIONS:
Swine*:For the treatment and control of streptococcal meningitis of pigs/piglets, and possible septicaemic conditions which follow this infectious disease (Streptococcus suis). Also used for the treatment and control of swine pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumoniae, and for the treatment and control of secondary bacterial pneumonia caused by Pasteurella Multocida.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
The product should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity to penicillins and cephalosporins.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS:
None known.

DOSAGE:
Swine*: For oral administration, after incorporation in feed or in pelleted feed. The recommended dose for swine is 10 mg of Phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium per kg B.W, daily, for (6) consecutive weeks in case of meningitis and septicaemic conditions, and up to (2) weeks in case of pleuropneumonia and pasteurellosis. This can be achieved when mixing 2 kg Pecivet / TN of feed.

STORAGE-SHELF LIFE:
The product should be stored in a cool and dry place at a temperature less than 25ο C. Under these conditions the product remains stable for 24 months after the production date, and 7 days after being mixed with feed. The container must be sealed after each use.
